Letter to the Membership - October 29, 2014

Hi Everyone,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

This is my first letter to you and I hope that I remember to tell you everything that is going on.

Just returned from the Colorado Association of REALTOR’S Convention and it was very good.  There were a lot more sessions for the REALTOR’S this year.   Many had to do with furthering your business and taking it to another level.  If you have not attended a convention I would suggest going next year.  It will be held at Keystone, September 15-17th.  Hope you can attend, you will have fun and learn a lot.

Last Tuesday I attended the Ceremony of Champions and Four Corners Board of Realtors received a plaque for meeting our goal for RPAC.  Brenda Bates received her acknowledgement of REALTOR of the Year.  Congratulations again, Brenda.

The Colorado Association of REALTORS General Membership and Board of Directors Meeting was held on Wednesday October 22, 2014.  There where five motions brought to the members.   1.  Approval of the fiscal year 2015 budget:  Motion was approved.  2.  Approval of the September 30, 2014 Financial Statements: Motion was approved.  3.  Approve the updated Professional Standards Policy Manual, as approved by the Professional Standards Committee.  Motion approved.    4.  Approval to amend Bylaws to provide that a Director may transfer all of his/her voting rights to any other CAR, and not just to the Director’s District Chair or another Director from the Director’s local association:   Motion was approved.  5. Amend Bylaws to provide that a Past Chair may not transfer their noting rights to another Director.  Motion failed.

Membership Update – Four Corners Board of Directors Meeting – 10/0 9/ 2014

The Dean Hanson Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success! We raised $10,290.41 for scholarship funds. A big thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers!

The Parade of Lights will be held on December 6th this year. The theme is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” If you have any questions or would like to help out this year please contact Terry McCabe.

Everyone should have received notice of the proposed bylaw changes. They were reviewed and approved by NAR.

A budget committee of Bob Toles, Preston Dillon, Susan Likes, Denise Unrein, and myself will be meeting sometime soon to work on the 2015 budget. Susan Likes is the Board Accountant. CREN will increase MLS fees by 10% beginning January 1, 2015, and CAR dues will increase from $145.00 per year to $165.00 per year in 2015.

The Director position that was left vacant by Brenda Bates assuming the President Elect position has been filled by Bonnie Leighton. Thanks Bonnie!

A Broker Forum with Jeff Follis, CEO CREN, will take place on November 17th at 10:00 a.m. at First National Bank. It is very important that ALL Brokers attend this meeting to be able to take back valuable information to members.

The Christmas party this year is tentatively scheduled for December 5th. More details to follow.

Regards,

Carol Click

RPAC

Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS® raise and spend money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests. The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by REALTORS®. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to the political process. RPAC doesn’t buy votes. RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession and livelihood.

Dean Hanson Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success! We have made over $10,000 already, and waiting for late hole sponsor fees to come in. Thanks to everyone who helped this year!

The accounts at Mancos Valley Bank were closed and all funds were moved to a money market account at Edward Jones. All but $5000.00 will be transferred to an investment account.

The Installation Banquet was held on September 18th at noon at the Elks Club. David Barber from CAR was present along with 52 attendees. It was a nice crowd and a fun time. The Realtor® of the Year was Brenda Bates. Congratulations to her! Our new president is Carol Click.

CREN will increase MLS fees by 10% beginning January 1, 2015.  CREN will be conducting a BOD meeting on September 30th. The purpose of this meeting is to consider Farm and Ranch issues.

We are now offering advertising to our affiliates on the website. The cost will be $50.00 per year. (No changes with the exception of contact information) We have two on the website already, check it out.

Not much to update this month. Good luck to the new officers. I will be attending future meetings as past-president. I have enjoyed the last two years as your president.
